Sticking to New Year’s Resolutions

As we get further and further into the new year, fewer and fewer people stick to their new year’s resolutions. According to a study published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 64% of people have abandoned their resolution by February.

With nearly 1 in 4 Americans making a new year’s resolution, and most of those revolving around diet and exercise, knowing how to make a resolution that’s achievable is crucial to sticking with it.

One of the best ways to ensure you stick to your resolution is to create a realistic one that you actually want to achieve. The study did find that those who were more flexible with their resolutions were better able to stick to them. While it’s now well into January, morphing your resolution into one that you are able to maintain motivation to complete is doable.

Creating a realistic resolution is easy. Make it one concrete goal that can be outlined in steps. Write it down, and make sure it’s something that’s actually achievable. Tell people about your goal, they can help hold you accountable. Planning ahead, and anticipating problems is a good way to stay on track while you complete your goal.

Staying motivated is another key part of keeping with your resolution. Giving yourself rewards along the way for completed steps is a great motivator. Of course, remembering the reason you made the resolution is a great way to stay motivated as well.

Maintaining motivation to work out is monumentally easier when you are pain free. Of course, LubriSyn HA can help with that, with results in as little as 7-10 days. Other ways to ensure pain free movement are low impact exercises, like swimming, and being sure to stay within your limits.

Good luck out there, and stick to it!
